Nawazuddin Siddiqui's latest release Thackeray, which clashed with Manikarnika on Friday, witnessed a major drop in its collections on the first Monday. The film, which is a biopic chronicling the life and times of Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray, saw a dip of about 50% in its box office collections.

A report on Box Office India suggests that the Hindi version of the film managed to rake in about Rs 1.25 - 1.50 crore on day four of its release, taking the overall total of the Hindi version of Thackeray to approx Rs 11.85 crore approx. The movie's Marathi version which did exceptionally well in the first three days of its release, dropped more than the Hindi version on Monday.

Thackeray had released along side Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: Tha Queen of Jhansi on January 25 this year. Despite lesser number of screens and limited audience, Thackeray was doing pretty well at the ticket windows till the opening weekend.

The film also stars Amrita Rao along with Nawaz. The performances in Thackeray have been much appreciated from the audience and the critics alike. The film traces Bal Thackeray's life from the time he was a cartoonist, till the time he became one of the most powerful political figures of the county.

Apart from Manikarnika, Thackeray is also facing competition at the ticket windows from Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike and Ranveer Singh's Simmba as both the films are still running successfully at the theatres.
