BOLLYWOOD
This outsider, who once slept on footpath, later became Bollywood superstar.
Every year many artistes try their luck in the competitve entertainment industry, while some pave their way to the top, others fail to make a mark. One such actress, who left home, studies at 15 for acting, has now become a superstar.
The actress we are talking about used to sleep on footpath during her intial days of struggle, but later starred in several 100-crore films and also won multiple National Awards. She is none other than Kangana Ranaut.
Kangana Ranaut left her studies and house at the age of 15 to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. Even though her father didn't support her during her struggles, she was determined to make her mark in Bollywood and also succeeded in doing so. During her intial days of struggle, the actress used to sleep on pavements as she didn't have her own house and travelled in public transport.
She once revealed in an interview, "Mine has been a journey of a thousand miles. I didn’t fly first class into Mumbai. I have traveled in buses, taxis, and trains, and even walked a lot. I have slept on the pavement since I didn’t have a house. I have been caught in traps, so I had to lodge complaints against people. I have seen the ugly side. On the other hand, I have also been awarded by the President twice."
Kangana Ranaut also once shared on Twitter that she was captured by the underworld at the age of 16. The actress made her Bollywood debut at the age of 19 with Anurag Basu's Gangster: A Love Story and won applause for her acting chops in the film by critics as well as the audience. However, she became a star with the movie Fashion, for which she also won a National Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Since then, the actress has starred in several hits and blockbusters. In fact, she gave the first women-led film that earned Rs 100 crore at box office in India, Tanu Weds Manu. Some of her other hits include Queen, Manikarnika, Tanu Weds Manu Returns and more. The actress emerged to be the superstar of Bollywood. The actress once rejected to do films with the Khans and has even rejected two of the biggest hits of Salman Khan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan.
Kangana Ranaut recently joined BJP and is now contesting elections from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. The actress was busy campaigning and called it a bigger struggle than making movies. She said, "After 6 Jan sabhas (public gathering) and multiple meet and greet with party workers, after 450km in a single day in rural mountains with worse roads and still travelling in the night, after no proper meal or snack timings I am wondering in my car, that filmi struggle about making movies is like a joke in front of this hustle uffff."
Meanwhile, she will next be seen in the movie Emergency, which also stars Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik and Milind Soman among others in key roles. The movie is directed by the actress herself and she will be seen playing the role of former Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi in the film. The release date of the film is yet to be announced.
