As promised BBC released the first teaser for the season 11 of Doctor Who during the FIFA World Cup final between France and Croatia.
The entire 50-seconds-long teaser is not really a part of the show but it introduces the new companions of the Doctor. Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill play Graham, Ryan, and Yasmin respectively. As these three people go about their lives, we see the atmosphere around them shimmer and something moves past them. It is none other than the latest regeneration of the Time Lord played by Jodie Whitaker.
The trailer also hides an Easter Egg giving a nod to Matt Smith's Doctor. The Doctor replaces Graham's newspaper with a copy of the Beano. This exact copy made its first appearance in Matt Smith's 2013 episode 'The Rings of Akhaten.' Smith's Time Lord uses this comic to hide while spying on his companion Clara Oswald's parents in 1980s.
As the trailer concludes, the tagline reads, "The Universe Is Calling."

Sharon D Clarke, Lee Mack and Alan Cumming have also signed on to appear in recurring guest roles for the series.
Chris Chibnall who has worked with Whittaker in critically acclaimed series Broadchurch has taken the responsibilities of the showrunner.
The show is coming to San Diego Comic-Con later this week. Fans can expect more posters and a full-fledged trailer released at that time.
