KBC 12: Can you answer this Rs 25 lakh 'Valmiki Ramayana' question that stumped Lipi Rawat in Amitabh Bachchan's show?

Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC 12) is one of the most loved shows on television. In the episode on December 21, Amitabh Bachchan welcomed Lipi Rawat to the hot seat after she won the fastest-finger-first round. 

Lipi Rawat revealed that she is very close to her father. She then said that whatever amount she would win on the show, she would use it to pay off her father's loans. This impressed Amitabh Bachchan and he lauded her goals and values in life.

The contestant used all of her lifelines and answered twelve questions correctly. However, the question for Rs 25 lakh stumped her. She decided to quit the show and took home prize money of Rs 12.5 lakh. 

The question was, According to Ramcharitmanas and Valmiki's Ramayana, on the banks of which river did Rama spend the first night of his exile? The options were: Ganga, Tamsa, Yamuna, and SarayuThe correct answer to this question is the Tamsa River

 

Lord Ram's journey in India

It was at Tamsa River that Shri Ram along with Sita, Lakshman, and Sumantra Minister (Mantri) rested on their first night. The modern name for Tamsa River is Madhar River and the place from where she flows is called Gora Ghat. This place is about twenty kilometers from Ayodhya.

River Tamasa (Valmiki Ramayana - Ayodhya Kanda ch 45 - 46): I meditate on Sri Rama Who camped on the bank of river Tamasa on the first night after forest exile. 

In addition to this, the Ashrama of sage Valmiki was at the banks of the Tamsa river. When Sita was exiled by Rama, she left Ayodhya and came to the banks of Tamsa river some 15 km away from the city, where she met Valmiki. 

Sita spent all her remaining life here and her twin sons Lava and Kusha received education and trained in military skills under the tutelage of Valmiki.
