The roadmap for the Suraj Gaurav Yatra of chief minister Vasundhara Raje was discussed by the party leaders on Wednesday. The yatra will start from August 4 and will end on September 2.

The last leg of the yatra would happen in Ajmer, which is PCC chief’s Sachin Pilot’s bastion. The yatra is scheduled to conclude with a grand sabha that is expected to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The yatra will continue for almost a month going by the current roadmap. The earlier yatra, Suraj Sankalp yatra, went on for about one-and -half month in 2013.

Sources informed that it was being planned that after Udaipur division the yatra will go to Bharatpur division and thereafter to Jodhpur, Kota and Bikaner divisions. After covering the constituencies in the Jaipur division, the yatra will proceed to Ajmer which is the focal point of the Suraj Gaurav Yatra.

Sources in the party said that there would be breaks in the yatra. This is the first time when CM Vasundhara Raje would be taking out the yatra to take the policies of her government to the people. The last two yatras were conducted to unseat the Congress which was in power at both the times in 2008 and 2013 respectively.

After the party meeting, president Madan Lal Saini informed reporters that two lok sabha constituencies will be clubbed for the purpose of yatra. He said that this was a party yatra and not a government yatra.

Saini also said that all arrangements were being made at the level of the party and the organization. Senior party leaders including state President Madan Lal Saini, home minister Gulab Chand Kataria, parliamentary affairs minister Rajendra Rathore and Jaipur MLA Ashok Parnami attended the meeting on Wednesday.

To take stock of the preparations for the yatra, transport minister Yunus Khan went to Kankroli to inspect the airstrip there. Kankroli is about 340 kms from Charbhuja ji temple from where CM Raje is scheduled to flag off the yatra.

“CM Raje may land at Kankroli airstrip and proceed to the venue by road,” an official said.
