Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Tuesday asked the Opposition not to destroy the "uniform service discipline" without substantiating allegations against any officer even as it demanded removal of a senior IPS officer on corruption charges.

"Straight away you should not destroy uniform service discipline (code). If you have any written document against any senior officer, place it," Munda said in the assembly.

Stating he had also read a newspaper report today about "One Faussi Ahmed" allegedly engaged as a "broker" on transfer and posting, Munda said, the government had viewed the matter seriously.

The government, he said, would ascertain whether Ahmed was a government or a private person and what influence he wielded.

Munda's reply came when Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) MLA Pradip Yadav demanded removal of a top IPS officer on corruption charges.

Joined by Opposition members, Yadav referred to the newspaper report that Ahmed was "close to the IPS officer and has influence in transfer-posting of sub-inspectors and inspectors".

Yadav also referred to another report in the newspaper on alleged irregularity in the purchase of "inflammable light" for the police force.

Munda assured the House that he had asked Home Secretary JB Tubid to look into all the allegations.
