Gujarat: Girl says kidnappers pulled off her hair with scalp, probe reveals accident

Hours after a 21-year-old Gujarat girl alleged she was brutally attacked by her kidnappers who pulled off her hair along with her scalp, the police said the initial probe suggests it to be a case of an accident. 

Vilash Vaghela had alleged that she was on the Botad highway when four men tried to abduct her. The girl had all of her hair pulled off from her scalp and had also lost her thumb and an ear.

According to her statement, the incident happened outside the Swaminarayan Gurukul in Gadhada where she is pursuing her B.Ed.

Preliminary investigation, however, points it to be a case of an accident. During the initial probe, the cops nabbed one Yogesh Vaghela, who told them that it was an accident.

“Yogesh and the victim were in a relationship. He is into the business of borewells and had taken the girl to show her how it functions,” said SK Parmar, SP, Botad.

He said Yogesh revealed that the victim insisted on seeing the machines that helped run the borewell and he took her to see it. 

“She got too close to a motor that was running and her hair, ear and fingers were sucked into the motor,” Parmar said.

Cops are verifying the details and trying to find out who took her to the hospital.

They believe the girl may have lied to keep her relationship with her boyfriend a secret.

Interestingly, when the girl was first taken to a hospital in Botad and then to another hospital in Bhavnagar, it was assumed that she was in an accident.

It was only when she was brought to VS Hospital on Wednesday evening and undergone surgery that the abduction angle came to the fore.

“The girl was brought to VS Hospital late evening and a surgery was performed on her. When she gained consciousness, she revealed that four men had pulled off her hair along with the scalp” Parmar had earlier told DNA when it was believed to be a case of kidnapping.

She had alleged that four men kidnapped her, cut off her ear and finger, pulled off her hair with the scalp while trying to snatch her earring and ring. She claimed that she was dumped on the road by the kidnappers.
