Immunity has become more than just a word ever since the world has witnessed coronavirus - a deadly virus which has been killing people with every passing day. Although right now vitams are the closest option to gaining strength, there are a few ways a person of any age could boost their immunity by natural means.

We have been so caught up in our daily-life routine and the stress that comes with it, that we all have forgotten to take care of our bodies' basic requirements. All it takes to strengthen your immunity naturally is adapting to a few lifestyle changes along with a change in diet.

By giving a boost to your immunity, you could easily strengthen your bodies' natural defenses. In turn, you might end up even fighting off the novel COVID-19, no matter the age.

Here are some of the tips to keep in mind:

Get minimum six hours of sleep

Studies have suggested that people who get less than six hours of sleep are likely to catch a cold. People who have slept for six-eight hours also respond more efficiently to any and every problem posed in front of them.

Switch to plant-based food and citrus fruits

Common vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds keep the inflammation in check. The condition is linked to heart disease, cancer and even Alzheimers (affecting the brain). It is thus important to consume at least one of the things throughout the day. Superfoods like chia seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts are recommended. It is also important to intake citrus fruits like orange, mosambi or kiwi twice-thrice a week.

Replace sugar with fermented foods

Every time you have a sugar craving, either reach out for water or yoghurt. The fermentation in yoghurt helps keep the gut healthy, giving strength to fight off all diseases.

Hydrate

Water, which is actually a compound of hydrogen and oxygen, is a natural refreshment for the body. Dehydration could be cause of many common factors like headaches, mood swings and digestion issues. In some cases, it could even lead to issues with the heart and kidney. Thus, it is recommended to make water your best friend.

Workout, even if just moderately

Even WHO has recognized that working out on a daily basis for at least 30 minutes is important to fight COVID-19. While people in younger ages can try and go for the intense workout, people who fall in the senior category could opt for a lighter workout but need to keep the muscles moving so their body can fight off all kinds of viruses - air-borne or otherwise. Even a slower process like yoga could go a long way.

The key, here, is to keep stress at bay. Meditation and focusing your mind on other activities that help you rejuvenate, should be your top priority in such a scenario.
