A series of goof-ups in the recent TYBCom examinations prompted vice-chancellor of the University of Mumbai Rajan Welukar to bring out a White Paper on the university’s status.

This is probably the first time in India that a university is bringing out a White Paper.

Announcing the decision on Wednesday in the senate meeting at Fort campus, Welukar said a committee — which would include all stakeholders — would be formed to bring out the White Paper.
The vice-chancellor, however, did not give out the details on the paper but experts believe it to be an exhaustive one which will bring out all the administrative loopholes and a transparent system in future.

“There are flaws accumulated in the system in last few years. We want corrective action now,” said Welukar.

One of the biggest campuses in the country handling 650 colleges and 6.5 lakh students, the university is under the scanner from all stakeholders for the last few years.

The university has been under fire on various issues including late results every year and goof-ups which appeared before the start of TYBCom this year.

The last-minute issuance of hall tickets, centre change, distribution of wrong papers to distance education and the latest was on Wednesday about the alleged leak of one of the paper.
