Along with the change to two term exams, the syllabus and exam pattern for CBSE board exams has also been revised.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the datesheets for Term 1 board exams for Class 10 and Class 12 for the academic year 2021-2022. Released at 9 pm on October 18, the datesheets can be downloaded from the official CBSE websites – www.cbse.nic.in, www.cbse.gov.in or www.cbseacademic.nic.in.
The Term 1 Board exams for Class 10 students will be held from November 30. Dates for exams of major subjects of Class 10 has been released by CBSE. However, the date sheet for minor subjects will be shared with schools separately.
Academic session 2021-2022 will be the first time that CBSE board exams will be held in the months of November and December. As notified by CBSE, the Term 2 exams will be held in March-April 2022.
The two term exams will be conducted on the basis of 50% of the total Class 10 syllabus prescribed by CBSE. Along with the change in conduct with two terms, the syllabus and exam pattern for CBSE board exams has also been revised.
Due to COVID-19, CBSE had already reduced the syllabus by around 30%. With the board exams to be held over two terms, the results of Term 1 and Term 2 will be combined with marks in practicals to derive the final results for students.
The practicals for Class 10 will be made up of marks that students obtain in three periodic tests, along with the student enrichment portfolio, practical work, speaking and listening activities.
With the duration of the board exams cut to half by CBSE from 3 hours to 1.5 hours, the reporting time for exams and start time have also been revised. Instead of the norm of starting Board Exams at 10:30 am, the Term 1 exams will start at 11:30 am and go on till 1:00 pm.
