Students across the nation are demanding CBSE to give them a choice to appear for either online or offline exams this year in the term 1 board examinations, which comes days after the Central Board of Secondary Education released the date-sheet for the examinations.

The term 1 board exams are scheduled to start from November 30 in offline mode from 11.30 am, and not 10.30, due to the winter season.

CBSE has assured that exams will be conducted in offline mode with all the COVID safety protocols in place, and will be followed throughout the exams. However, students on social media are demanding the board to give them an option to appear for exams in either offline or offline mode.

A student on Twitter wrote, “CBSE should keep Term 1 boards ONLINE. If classes have been held online exams should be too. And besides they are experimenting everything on 2021-22 class 10 and 12th batch… At least they should keep term 1 exam online."

Meanwhile, some students highlighted that some of them are not vaccinated against coronavirus.  “I would like to inform that most of the students are below 18years of age and haven’t been vaccinated.Offline exam will bring disasters for many students and their families. Is this a STUDENT FRIENDLY BOARD?DON’T PLAY WITH OUR LIVES,” a student tweeted.

A viral tweet read, "If CBSE & Govt, thinks that online classes were successful. Then why not online exams. WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR ONLY ONLINE EXAMS ALL WE ARE ASKING FOR IS AN OPTION. OUR LIFE MATTER!!"

Trending with the hashtag #Onlineexamsforcbse, many students retweeted the above tweet. One wrote, "#Onlineexamsforcbse There should be equality....if ICSE can  #cbse can also!"

While one replied, "Yes you are right, Our lives matter!! We want an option if any students who lost his parents, family so what he do, If any student who has symptoms of virus or dengue so what he can do, will he come for paper, kya kroge aap jawaab do ASAP!!"

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has also said that they will provide the option of appearing for board exams online from next year.
