A 27-year-old man was shot at while two children playing in the neigbourhood sustained shell injuries after a fight between two groups turned ugly. The incident was reported from North-West Delhi's Jahangirpuri area on Monday night. While the man has been identified as Subhod and the two kids, Rahul (14) and Arman (13) are stated to be out of danger.

Around 9:30 pm on Monday, an argument broke out between Subhod (27) and his brother Pramod (32). Within minutes, the argument took an ugly turn even though a group of drunk men tried to pacify them.

"Subhod did not like their interference and abused one of the men, after which the group of men allegedly thrashed both the brothers, and one of them even fired several gunshots on both of them. Although Pramod escaped without any injuries but one of the bullets passed through Subhod's thigh leaving him severely injured," said Ashok, Subhod's another brother.

"One of the shell got struck into Rahul's neck and another in Arman's right shoulder. We used to ask him not to stroll late night but that day he had received his annual results in which he had scored well, so we allowed him to go out and play. They had not even imagined that the fight between some men would end of hurting them," said Vimla, mother of Rahul.

All the injured were rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, however, seeing the injuries, the doctors referred them to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital at Delhi Gate, where after initial treatment, Subhod and Arman were discharged. Rahul is still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Police officials are investigating the case and trying to establish the sequence of the incident.

"A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered. A man named Lokesh was arrested by the police for opening fire at the brothers that ended up injuring the kids also," said Aslam Khan, DCP, North-West.
