When Mumbai Indians (MI) needed to win all three of their reminder matches, fans expected them to go all guns blazing, however, in the clash against Delhi Capitals (DC), their batting line-up was seen collapsing.

The Rishabh Pant-led DC had won the toss and opted to bowl against MI in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. However, the DC bowers did not allow the MI batsmen to play freely and restricted them to 129 runs as they lost eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Put in to bat first, Mumbai lost an early wicket in the form of Rohit Sharma, who was dismissed by Avesh Khan within the powerplay itself.

Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav did get the start, but Axar Patel made sure to break the small partnership and even get rid of both of batters. DC pacer Anrich Nortje bowled a quality wicket-maiden that had sent back dangerman Kieron Pollard.

Later, Avesh Khan made sure not to allow the Mumbai Indians to bounce back as he and Axar bagged three wickets each and Nortje was quite economical too. R Ashwin proved to be expensive but did get a wicket while Kagiso Rabada was wicketless.

As for MI, Suryakumar Yadav was the highest scorer as he smashed 33 off 26 balls. de Kock (19), Saurabh Tiwary (15), Hardik Pandya (17), Krunal Pandya (13) and Jayant Yadav (11) added runs in bits and pieces.

Lowest totals defended by MI in IPL:

120 vs PWI Pune 2012

129 vs RPS Hyderabad 2017 (final)

136 vs SRH Hyderabad 2019
