    The last Nizam of Hyderabad, Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan, is regarded as the first billionaire of India as he possessed Rs 1910987 crore ($230 billion) wealth. It is to be noted that Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan was recognized as India's first and wealthiest billionaire by the East India Company.

    According to Times Magazine, Nizam Osman Ali’s huge wealth at that time was equal to around 2% of the US GDP. The report claimed that Nizam Osman Ali was the wealthiest individual on the planet. 

    The main source of Nizam Ali’s massive wealth was Golconda Mines, the sole supplier of diamonds in India at that time, Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan had 50 Rolls-Royce cars in his collection and he was in possession of a Rs 1000 crore diamond, which was used by the rich Nizam as a paperweight. Nizam Ali was also the owner of a private airline, a cache of 400 million pounds of jewels, and 100 million pounds of gold. Nizam Osman Ali was also the proud owner of famous diamonds, including the Koh-i-Noor, Hope, Darya-e Nur, Nur-Ul-Ain, Princie, Regent, and Wittelsbach.

    Though Nizam Ali had massive wealth he was a miser and was not particular about cleanliness. According to some reports, Nizam Ali used to clean his bedroom only once a year. Though Nizam Osman Ali Khan was super rich he was very ‘kanjoos’ when it comes to treating his guests as some reports claimed that he used to serve only biscuits to his guests. 

    Nizam Osman Ali Khan passed away on February 24, 1967, at the age of 80. Nizam Ali laid to rest at Masjid-e-Judi at King Kothi.
