Indian Railways to hike meal prices on Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains

The cost for lunch and dinner has been increased to Rs 185 from Rs 125 in both classes, while, passengers have to buy snacks for Rs Rs 105 (Rs 75 earlier).

The Indian Railways has increased the food and tea prices on Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains which will be applicable from January 2020.

The passengers will now have to pay Rs 20, and Rs 15 for tea in second AC class, and sleeper class, respectively. Earlier prices for the same was Rs 10 for both classes.

The cost for lunch and dinner has been increased to Rs 185 from Rs 125 in both classes, while, passengers have to buy snacks for Rs Rs 105 (Rs 75 earlier).

For passengers travelling in first AC and Executive class, the price for a cup of tea is Rs 35, which was earlier Rs 29. The cost for breakfast in first class is Rs 140 (earlier Rs 90), cost for lunch and dinner is Rs 245 from earlier price of Rs 145. 

'The changes will be fed into the ticketing system of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in a fortnight's time," a statement by the Indian Railways stated.
