The Gujarat High Court has asked the state to clarify its stand in a matter concerning a land earmarked for a public garden was to planned. Earlier a petition had been filed in the high court challenging Auda's decision to give a plot of land in Bodakdev earmarked for a garden to Ahmedabad International School. Despite two years, Auda has not done anything to develop the garden.

The court on Wednesday observed that land for public use cannot be given to the private organisation and asked the state to check the current status. It also said that if needed the court can set up a commission for the same. A further hearing will take place on February 12.

The petition when filed had said that Auda had given its land close to the AIS to be used as a playground and that the school had later also converted it into a parking lot and had prevented the general public from accessing the plot. The state had later clarified that the land allotted was as per rules and that the school was to allow access to the public at all times except for when the school is functioning. The school had also stated that it would not use the ground as a parking lot. On Wednesday counsel moved the high court stating that it had been two years since the petition has been filed and the case needs to be disposed of and the public should get their garden.
