    BERLIN: Six French players will collect their second World Cup winners medals should their side defeat Italy in Sunday's final.

    Zinedine Zidane, Fabien Barthez, Lilian Thuram, Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet were all in the squad that played in the 1998 competition.

    Zidane, who scored two goals in the 3-0 win over Brazil, Barthez and Thuram were all starters at the Stade de France that day while Vieira came on as a substitute.

    Only 21 players in the history of the World Cup have twice played on winning sides with only Brazilian Pele playing in three (1958, 1962 and 1970).

    Thirteen other Brazilians including Garrincha, Mario Zagallo and Vava completed the double in 1958 and 1962 and four Italians did likewise in 1934 and 1938.

    The only Argentinian to win two was defender Daniel Passarella at home in 1978 and then in Mexico eight years later.

    Cafu and Ronaldo of Brazil doubled up in 1994 and 2002.
