Mukesh Ambani unveiled plans to bring Jio AirFiber to market at Reliance’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and now the device has been launched in India. Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash Ambani takes care of the Reliance Jio subsidiary and the new Jio AirFiber is the latest offering from the firm. Jio AirFiber helps accelerate connectivity in regions that are difficult to reach through physical connectivity. Jio's optical fiber infrastructure spans over 1.5 million kilometres across India yet providing physical last-mile connectivity often ends up taking a lot of time in most parts of our country. This leaves millions of potential customers without home broadband, and that is where Jio AirFiber comes in.
Initially, the new Jio AirFiber service will be available in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. The Jio AirFiber is like a Jio Fiber without a physical connection. Subscribers to the service will get WiFi router for ubiquitous coverage in your home or business premise, 4K smart set top box and voice-active remote.
Jio AirFiber users get free access to the leading OTT apps. Users can also utilize this subscription and use the apps across any device of their choice such as TV, Laptop, Mobile or Tablet. Jio AirFiber subscription price in India starts at Rs 599 and the top of the line plan with 1000 mbps speed is priced at Rs 3999. The price of most plans are similar to the Jio AirFiber.
Speaking at the launch of JioAirFiber, Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, said, “Our extensive fiber-to-the-home service JioFiber, already serves over 10 million customers, with hundreds of thousands more getting connected each month. But there are still millions of homes and small businesses to be connected at a rapid pace.”
