If given a chance of having to chat with skipper MS Dhoni, 10 out of 10 people would blindly take it. After all, who would miss the golden opportunity to have a candid chat with our Captain Cool. What was supposed to be an amazing night at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, turned out to be a one to forget for MS Dhoni and Australian journalist - Sam Ferris.

In the post-match press conference, the journalist couldn't resist himself but ask Dhoni about his retirement plans. Though MS Dhoni took up this question sportingly, he was upset with the constant speculation revolving around his retirement in the media.

What followed was MS Dhoni inviting Ferris beside him, and taking his case in a hilarious way. It was a good laugh for the audience on MS Dhoni's reply, but a very tense moment for Ferris, who did not see that coming at all.

"What I thought was a fairly routine question for a 34-year-old skipper just eliminated from the World T20 turned me into an unwitting media spectacle" , the journalist says as he clarifies himself regarding the incident on cricket.com.au

Sam says, he thought the question was pretty standard considering how unexpectedly Dhoni announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2014. He adds how the 34-year old has achieved almost all major laurels for his nation in a short span.

"But in case none of the India press pack was going to ask, I was ready."

"Press conferences operate on a rotation system, so when my turn rolled around, the question still had not been asked, and I went for it." "For the record, I never asked if he was going to retire, just how keen he was to play on. I'm not trying to retire one of the greats." adds Sam Ferris

On asking MS Dhoni about the retirement question and being called on stage, Sam wrote, "An invitation to come join him on stage. At first I politely decline, but he insists. Who am I to turn down India's greatest-ever captain?"

And what followed was a warm grilling of Ferris by MS Dhoni. Click here to watch how MS Dhoni grill Sam Ferris.

The Australian journalist would have never expected that he would become an instant sensation after spending less than 30 seconds along side skipper Dhoni. Nonetheless, Ferris said he couldn't remember a word he said when he was swarmed by Indian journalists after the press conference and that he felt as he "took a bullet for his Indian colleagues."
