Kerala and former India pacer S Sreesanth has expressed his disappointment after he was left out of the final list of shortlisted players for the auction of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The BCCI on Thursday announced the list of 292 players finalised by the eight franchises to bid for. However, the most prominent name missing from the list was the 38-year old pacer Sreesanth, who made his comeback to the game after serving a 7-year ban.

Sreesanth returned to competitive cricket in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for his state side Kerala, where he impressed one and all with his pace and the passion, that is still very much intact. The Kothamangalam-born pacer, after the snub shared his thought in a video he uploaded on his social media.

“I want to say I am absolutely fine and grateful to this lovely life. I am thankful to all the support you have been showing. Honestly thought I would be there (in the auction list) but I have to work really hard. If I could wait for eight years, I will wait some more time," he said in the video.

"It was honestly disappointing not to make the cut but I am really alright. If I can wait 8 years to make a comeback into cricket, I can wait for some more time. No more sympathies are needed because guys I am absolutely happy,” he added.

Sreesanth said that he was not ready to give up and will try in the next season and if he is not picked in the next season as well, he will try in the year 2023. After taking part in the domestic T20 competition, Sreesanth is now gearing to be well prepared for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the 50-over competition.

"I have to make sure that I work hard and if I make it there next season then it is good and if not then maybe next season. I look up to a lot of people around the world and what I have learned is that you need the support of your fans. I am in Wayanad and we just finished our Vijay Hazare Trophy camp and we are off to Bangalore next, he added.

164 Indian players will be going under the hammer on February 18 along with 125 overseas players. Sreesanth, who last played in the lucrative league in the year 2013 for Rajasthan Royals, was banned from the game for 7 years after being named in the IPL spot-fixing scandal.
