In the ongoing third and final Test match between India and South Africa, Rohit Sharma slammed his 6th Test century and third of the series at the JSCA International Sports Complex in Ranchi on Saturday.
Rohit achieved his ton with a six over long-off off Dane Piedt’s bowling in the post-lunch session of Day 1.
Rohit even went on the break the world record for most sixes by a batsman in a series.
The earlier record was held by West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer, who had hit 15 sixes against Bangladesh in November 2018.
The record for most sixes in a Test series by an Indian belonged to Harbhajan Singh who had hit 14 sixes against New Zealand in 2010. Harbhajan had also scored two centuries in two matches. Rohit also brought up his 2000 Test runs.
Piedt had not played in the second Test but was brought back to the side after Keshav Maharaj was ruled out due to injury.
After early wickets of Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli, the Hitman was joined by Ajinkya Rahane who supported him in acquiring those runs.
