'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Episode 6 'The Iron Throne' Review: Two rulers, Night's Watch and an Explorer

The day has finally come when the whole of the world witnessed the fate of Westeros. After a much disappointing penultimate episode, people lowered their expectations from the finale episode. It was a huge surprise for me as my predictions turn out to be true about the fate of the Iron Throne. This looked like a very short episode and seems the makers were in a hurry to get into conclusions. Like the last two episodes, Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 is one hour 15 minutes long.

ONE LAST TIME Major Major Major Spoilers Ahead!

The episode starts with Tyrion Lannister walking through the King's Landing looking at the end results of the massacre created by Daenerys Targaryen. He is joined by Jon Snow and Ser Davos, but the imp wants to be left alone. He walks inside the palace and searches for his siblings Jaime Lannister and Cersei Lannister. Tyrion hopes that they have escaped but he sees a metallic hand and breaks down. He sees his siblings died in the arms of each other under the debris.

As the Unsullied hail their new Queen, Drogon flies over and assembles on the ruins. We see a never-seen-before sight of Dany walking and wings being spread. For a second, I thought about her being the real dragon, but she is only a mother. Dany starts her speech in Dothraki language and talks about her achievements and freeing people from slavery. After the speech, her army hails her and the Queen is born.

However, sad and angry Tyrion walks towards her and Dany accuses him of betraying her by freeing Jaime. To which Tyrion replies, "I freed my brother and you slaughtered a city." He then throws away his pin of 'Hand of the Ruler' and Dany tells her men to capture him. Jon quietly witnesses all the commotions and Dany walks past him. He is shocked to see Arya Stark and asks him about being in the King's Landing. She reveals that she came to kill Cersei but Dany got her first. Arya ends up telling Jon the harsh truth, "Jon, she knows who you are…who you really are. You’ll always be a threat to her. And I know a killer when I see one."

Jon visits Tyrion in prison where he again defends Dany saying the same old words of she being the Queen. Jon also says, "I chose my fate. The people of King’s Landing did not." Tyrion gives him out a reality check by saying that she has killed more people than all the evil people did on the show. *True True True* Tyrion also says, "Everywhere she goes, evil men die and we cheer her for it." This was a feel-good scene where men break down on knowing the ultimate fate of them and the show, I guess!

Jon then heads to see Dany but is stopped by a snow-clad Drogon. Dany, on the other hand, looks at the beauty of the Iron Throne and tells Jon about the stories she heard about it. The title track plays here and it's haunting AF! They both discuss of Dany's wrongdoings and she tells Jon about living together. As they hug and kiss each other, Jon stabs Dany in her heart! Yes, we saw it coming, right?

Her only son Drogon have a Simba-Mufasa moment of waking his mother up but sigh, she has died. Angry Drogon spits fire and melts the Iron Throne, yes that's the fate! Like how she had a vision in Season 2, Dany never got a chance to sit on the Iron Throne. Drogon then picks her up and flies away.

Grey Worm then takes Tyrion to the survivors of the Westeros. Of course, Jon is captured for his CRIME of killing the Queen. Grey Worm wants to execute Tyrion and Jon, but no one agrees. As they discuss what should be done, Tyrion suggests that they should choose a new King and he delivers a speech about how Bran is perfect.

When Tyrion asks Bran, the person, who lives in past, present and future says, "Why do you think I came all this way?" Yeah, he knew the whole time! However, Sansa Stark loves her brother but she wants North to be an independent kingdom. 

Thus it's, "All hail Bran the Broken…Lord of the Six Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm". Westeros have a King, who comes with his own Throne!

Coming to Jon's fate, he is being sent to Night’s Watch, AGAIN! Yes, that's where he belonged always. He bids farewell to his sisters Sansa and Arya. Jon bends his knee to the new King and we see Bran smiling for the first time in a very long time. 

Brienne of Tarth sits in the Kingsguard tower and writes Jaime's history which she ends with 'died protecting his Queen'. Sweet much?

Jon reaches Night's Watch and reunites with his ultimate partner Ghost! Sansa becomes the ruler of the North and Arya heads to the West of Westeros on a ship which has Stark's sigil.

And that's how D & D decided to end Game of Thrones by rising Stark sigil everywhere!
