Infosys, which has created the new Income Tax return filing portal, shared a number of significant updates regarding the ITR e-filing service.

Software giant Infosys, which has created the new Income Tax return filing portal on behalf of the Indian Government, shared a number of significant updates regarding e-filing of ITR.
In a press statement, Infosys shared that there has been steady growth in usage of the portal. It also said that taxpayer concerns were being “progressively addressed.”
It acknowledged the challenges and difficulties persisting for some users of the portal, stating that it is working “expeditiously, in collaboration with the Income Tax Department, to further streamline end-user experience.”

Infosys revealed that more than 3 crore taxpayers have logged into the new ITR e-filing portal till now and that they have successfully completed various transactions. More than 1.5 crore returns have been filed. Over 2.5 lakh return filings are being facilitated by the portal on a daily basis, it said.
Over 15 lakh unique taxpayers. on average, logged into the portal daily in September 2021. More than 85% of taxpayers who have filed their IT returns also completed their e-verification, which was done mostly through Aadhaar-based OTP.
Furthermore, it mentioned that 11.5 lakh statutory forms and over 8 lakh TDS returns have also been filed already, whereas more than 16.6 lakh e-PANs have been allocated, over 4.3 lakh DSC registrations and more than 3.44 lakh e-proceeding responses to notices were successfully completed on the new portal.
Resolving issues with the portal
Infosys stated that it directly engaged with over 1200 taxpayers to understand their issues as it strives to resolve the challenges being currently faced by some users of the new portal. It added that it is working closely with the Chartered Accountant (CA) community to “ensure that a comprehensive set of user scenarios are supported and thoroughly tested before deployment.”
