After Jundal had managed to evade arrest in the arms haul case, he went to Malegaon and abandoned the Indica car he was driving.
Faiyaz Kagzi, an Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative, had helped Abu Jundal in fleeing the country when he was under the radar of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in the Aurangabad arms haul case.
Jundal was the main accused in arms haul case, while Kagzi played a key role in the Pune German Bakery blasts.
After Jundal had managed to evade arrest in the arms haul case, he went to Malegaon and abandoned the Indica car he was driving. He then went to a cyber cafe from where he sent an email to LeT operatives in Nepal and Pakistan asking for help.
“The mail was a code, which read, ‘Bade bimar hai aur chotton ko patta nahi chal raha hai kahan jaana hai’ (senior persons are unwell and younger ones don’t know where to go). This message meant that most of the senior operatives had been arrested while the juniors, like him, did not know where to go,” said a crime branch officer.
However, none of the persons replied to Jundal’s mail as by then the media had already started flashing news about Aurangabad arms haul.
All the LeT operatives to whom the mail had been sent thought that the mail was sent by the police to track down their IP addresses. It was only Kagzi who replied to the mail giving details of a person named Shaukat, who is believed to be an ISI agent.
On the instructions of Kagzi, Shaukat instructed Jundal to spend a night in a mosque following which he went to West Bengal to Moshidabad and finally to Dhaka. He then met Shaukat who took him to Sialda in Bangladesh where a fake passport under the name of Sayyed was prepared for Jundal, which he used to fled to Pakistan.
It was Kagzi who had recruited Jundal, an electrician from Beed. Jundal has been sent to Delhi after his custody with the crime branch and the ATS ended. He is one of the key players in orchestrating the 26/11 terror attacks on Mumbai.
The escape story
Abu Jundal,the main accused in the Aurangabad arms haul case, sent emails to LeT operatives in Nepal and Pakistan. However, only Kagzi replied to the mail giving details of an ISI agent.
The ISI agent helped Jundal to escape to Bangladesh. Jundal got a passport there and used it to reach Pakistan.
