IPL 2021: List of players up for bidding at the mini-auction

After 57 players were released by the eight teams last week, some of the biggest Indian and international players will be up for grabs

Even though the last season concluded just a couple of months ago, the new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is notthat far away. With, the retentions and releases announced by the teams last week, some of the stars of the cricketing world and a few experienced Indian players will be up at the auction table.

Most of the franchises retained their core players and cleared their extras, while some of them just kept their key and marquee players and released some of the big names. A total of 57 players were released by the eight franchises, with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) releasing the most, i.e., 10.

With the mini one-day auction set to take place on Febuary 18 in all likelihood, teams will be in the planning mode and will be targeting the players, whom they will be keeping an eye on in the auction, to plug their gaps and build a strong squad ahead of the 2021 season.

Australia's top batting stars Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch will be on many teams' radar, who want a solid batsman in their top order. Apart from the experienced ones, some of the young and exciting Australian players like Josh Inglis, Jhye Richardson, who are currently performing exceptionally well for the Perth Scorchers in the BBL. Apart from the overseas players, some of the Indian players like Piyush Chawla and Manoj Tiwary could also be picked in the auction, given the amount of experience these two have.

The players released by the eight franchises that will be up for grabs are: Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch, Chris Morris, Kedar Jadhav, Murali Vijay, Piyush Chawla, Alex Carey, Keemo Paul, Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mohit Sharma, Jason Roy, Sheldon Cottrell, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, Hardus Viljoen, James Neesham, Krishnappa Gowtham, Karun Nair, Jagadeesha Suchith, Tejinder Singh Dhillon, Chris Green, Harry Gurney, M Siddharth, Nikhil Naik, Siddhesh Lad, Tom Banton, Prince Balwant Rai, Digvijay Deshmukh, Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Pattinson, Sherfane Rutherford, Mitchell McCleneghan, Akash Singh, Anirudha Joshi, Ankit Rajpoot, Oshane Thomas, Shashank Singh, Tom Curran, Varun Aaron, Shivam Dube, Umesh Yadav, Moeen Ali, Parthiv Patel, Pawan Negi, Isuru Udana, Gurkeerat Mann, Billy Stanlake, Sandeep Bavanaka, Fabian Allen, Sanjay Yadav and Prithviraj Yarra.
