Former Australian cricketer-turned-commentator Kerry O’Keeffe created another controversy after making a remark during commentary about names of Indian players. O’Keeffe has earlier been slammed for his uncharitable comment about Indian domestic cricket and Mayank Agarwal’s triple century in the Ranji Trophy.

The 71-year-old O’ Keefe reportedlly made a comment on the name of Cheteshwar Pujara on air during day four of the third Test match between India and Australia in Melbourne. According to several users on social media, O'Keefe said "Why would you name your kid Cheteshwar Jadeja".

O’ Keefe was slammed on the social media for making these remarks and failing to pronounce the names of some Indian players including Ravindra Jadeja.

Some even asked the Indian broadcaster Sony to remove Kerry O'Keefe from commentary team.

O’ Keefe earlier had face social media ire for making distasteful remarks about Mayank Agarwal while commentating alongside Mark Waugh and Shane Warne on Fox Sports. O’Keeffe said Agarwal’s triple ton came against “canteen staff”.

“Apparently, he got the triple (ton) against the Railways canteen staff,” he said before joking about chefs and waiters opening the bowling.

O’Keeffe’s comments were dubbed racist and stereotyping in the social media, forcing the former leg-spinner to issue an apology. “I was mentioning the runs Agarwal got in first class cricket in India and there’s been a reaction.

“There was no way I was demeaning the standard, it was tongue in cheek. There are lots of runs scored so apologies if anyone out there took offence,” he said.
