Burger Singh, a well-known fast food chain in India, has established itself as a rival to popular brands like McDonald's, Burger King, and others. What began as a 98-square-foot burger joint has expanded into a multi-city food chain with a Rs 90 crore annual revenue.

It was made possible by Kabir Jeet Singh, whose fast-food enterprise, Burger Singh, opened in 2014 and offers scrumptious burgers, fries, sides, and other food items on its menu. Burger Singh's co-founder and CEO is Kabir.

Who is Kabir Jeet Singh?

Hailing from army family, Kabir Jeet Singh's parents wanted their son to enlist in the Indian army. Singh was sent to a residential army public school at the age of 13. He attended there until Class 12. Kabir realised that the army life might not be what he wanted by the time he had completed his BBA. The family supported him in following his dream and did not put any obstacles in his way.

Kabir Jeet Singh continued on to the University of Birmingham to earn his MBA. He worked two part-time jobs to help him make ends meet while he was a student studying in the UK. He worked the night shift at a pub and the evening shift at a burger restaurant.

His Indian tastebuds made him realise that the food was lacking in flavour and spices and began thinking about how he could add the flavours he really desired. He then decided to try a few different spices. Before cooking the burger patties, he mixed a spice mixture with the chopped meat. Additionally, it quickly became popular with the clients.

The "fusion" burgers quickly gained popularity and were added to the weekend menu of the burger outlet. Later on, he began to sell his burgers at university cookouts. He adopted the moniker "Burger Singh" at this time. In a few years, the business expanded into the name of his franchised restaurant in India.

In 2014, he launched his own business in Gurgaon after coming back to India in 2008 and gaining knowledge about the technical side of operating a business. Kabir first concentrated on locating materials. He partnered with a vendor in Panvel, Mumbai, for a vegetarian items, and with a vendor in Hyderabad for non-vegetarian offerings.

Costing Rs. 30 lakh, the initial outlet was opened, and two more stores were later added. Since the rentals were only Rs 60,000 and the outlets had already begun to generate close to Rs 10 lakh in revenue, the smaller stores allowed them to save money.

According to Mint reports, Burger Singh began with an investment of about Rs 40 lakhs and acquired money from a number of investors. In FY 23, the revenue increased from Rs 29.1 crores to Rs 90 crores. With more than 100 locations spread across more than 50 cities, Kabir's Burger Singh has risen to become the third-most popular burger delivery spot in the nation.
