Meet ex-Wipro employee, who is set to take charge of Rs 2.8 lakh crore company as CFO

In every industry, the development of business depends critically on experienced executives. On September 28, the IT services provider Cognizant announced the nomination of Jatin Dalal as its new chief financial officer (CFO), with his takeover expected to take effect in December 2023.

Jan Siegmund, who already stated his intention to retire at the start of 2024, will be replaced by Dalal. Siegmund will continue to work for the firm as a non-executive officer and special consultant when Dalal takes over as CFO in order to facilitate a smooth transition.

In addition to managing Cognizant's global economic structuring and evaluation, tax, finances, and internal audit, business growth, stakeholder relations, and company risk control operations and more, ex-Wipro employee Dalal will work with Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S. As of September 28, the market cap of Cognizant is around $34 billion or Rs 28,27,86,84,00,000

He earned a degree in engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Surat, India, and has a postgraduate diploma in business management from NMIMS, Mumbai, with a focus on finance and international business.

He holds certifications as a chartered management accountant from CIMA, chartered accountant from Institute of Cost Accountants of India and Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and chartered financial analyst (US). Additionally, Dalal is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School's Advanced Management Course.

Dalal brings with him a wealth of executive-level financial skills from large corporations. He comes to Cognizant from Wipro, a company where he had been president since December of last year and had been CFO since April of this year.

From 2011 until 2015, he worked as the global finance head for Wipro's divisions. Prior to that, he held the positions of UK head of finance for the Europe area and CFO of Wipro's worldwide IT business in Bengaluru. Dalal joined Wipro in 2002 and held a number of financial positions with various responsibilities.
