Director and ex-wife of Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao has made her directorial comeback after 12 years, and the teaser of her next directorial, Laapataa Ladies, has been released online. Backed by Kiran's ex-husband, Aamir, Laapataa Ladies is another slice-of-life comedy-drama where Ravi Kishen leads an investigation of two missing brides.

This movie marks the return of Kiran as director after the 2010's film Dhobi Ghat (Mumbai Diaries). The teaser of Laapataa Ladies looks promising as it transports us to the backdrop of rural India. While it exudes the vibes of a clear mess set around the search for the two lost brides, it gives glimpses of genuine situational comedy.

Set in 2001, in rural parts of India, Laapataa Ladies follows the jolly mess that ensues when two young brides get lost from a train. The film stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan in lead roles.

Here's the teaser

Laapataa Ladies is also getting screened at the grand premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 8th, well ahead of its release. Presented by Jio Studios, Laapataa Ladies is directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande. The film has been made under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, with the script based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. Laapataa Ladies will release in the cinemas on January 5, 2024.

On the acting front, Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha failed to perform well at the box office. Aamir Khan has taken a break from acting and revealed that he would do a film when is 'emotionally ready'. However, as per latest media reports, Aamir will return to the big screen in Christmas 2024.
