While the Moto 360 was a great start to the smartwatch trend, it lacked style and, in some cases, functionality. But over time we've seen some great looking wearables hit the ground - like the sleek Apple Watch, or the stoic LG Watch Urbane, Smartwatch designs can only get better and smarter from here.

From Chinese smartphone maker Huawei comes the next entry into a burgeoning market, the Huawei Watch. The device was first announced at the Mobile World Congress Event in Barcelona over eight months ago, but it's finally available for purchase in the UK. You can order one directly from Huawei's vMall website or select Selfridges stores. The Huawei Watch is priced at US $444 for the silver base version with a leather band(converted from British pounds), but the added bells and whistles, like the ceramic black watchface or the steel link strap, will cost you extra. The most expensive combination is the ceramic watch with a steel link strap for US $567.

The Huawei Watch has a 1.4-inch circular (400x400) AMOLED display at 286 ppi. The display is protected by Sapphire crystal and is housed in a 42mm diameter body. It packs a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 512GB RAM and runs on Android Wear. The watch is 11.3mm thin, packing a 300mAh battery touted to give a one and half day usage time, and is compatible with both Android and iOS 8.
