The approaching celestial events are widely anticipated by astronomers and space enthusiasts. This week, astronomers will be able to see two celestial phenomena. The "Super Blue Moon" which is a second full moon, will rise near Saturn and will be seen in the sky.

On the night of August 30, there will be the upcoming full Moon. A few days away from being at the nearest and most vibrant for the year, Saturn will be seen close to the Moon. NASA Solar System Exploration estimates that Saturn is going to be 5 degrees to the rightmost side of the Moon at this time.

For three days, from Tuesday night to Friday morning, the gas-ringed planet will look whole around the full Moon's peak. The Full Sturgeon Moon appeared on August 1 and is going to be followed by the Blue Moon, which will be the second full moon for the month.

What is Blue Moon?

A moment in the Moon's orbit whenever it is nearest to Earth, is an example of supermoon or full Moon that occurs along with a blue moon. A blue moon is a common occurrence in the cosmos. A two- to three-year interval sees it. In August 2021, there was a Blue Moon. The following Blue Moon is anticipated to rise in August of 2024, according to Space.com.

How to see Super Blue Moon?

According to a report from Space.com, the Super Blue Moon is going to be 7% larger than a typical full Moon and may be viewed with the unaided eye. However, this size disparity generally won't be evident to the untrained eye. Binoculars could make it easier to see the Super Blue Moon.

Saturn with the Super Blue Moon together

Saturn, a large and luminous planet, will appear with the Super Blue Moon. Just a few days after reaching the Sun's opposite side, the ringed planet will reach there. Saturn and the moon will align during the night of August 30 and 31, 2023.

A Blue Moon will appear on August 30–31, 2023, lighting up the sky. This supermoon is the third of four in a row. In 2023, the closest (largest) full supermoon will occur.

When to view Super Blue Moon?

It is advised to view a full moon when it rises just after sunset during the hours of darkness for the best viewing experience. On August 30, 2023, at precisely 8:37 p.m. EDT, the Super Blue Moon will reach its maximum brightness.

The moonrise, especially in the hours of twilight, coincides with the best time of the evening for moonwatching. The moonrise on Thursday, August 31, 2023, is somewhat late as opposed to Wednesday, August 30, 2023, which is an added pleasure for spectators in Europe.
