Mumbai: Mount Litera school organises donation drive to help Kerala flood victims

Students, parents and teachers of Mount Litera School International at Bandra Kurla Complex came together to contribute for the flood-affected victims of Kerala on Friday. The school organised the initiative along with the Goonj Foundation.

The school in a donation drive collected essentials like new sleeping mats, bed sheets, blankets, raincoats, sugar, salt, tea, coffee, and essential grains such as tur dal and rice.

The drive also collected toothbrushes, toothpaste, washing and bathing soaps, candles, matchboxes, ORS packets, water purifying chlorine tablets, sanitary napkins, adult and baby diapers.

The essentials were dispatched to the Goonj foundation in the disaster struck state. The school has decided to send their second round of donation soon .

Commenting on the initiative, Navyata Goenka, Advisor - Mount Litera School International said, "The magnitude of the tragedy is immense, and at Mount Litera School International, our aim is to work together and support organisations and efforts towards helping Kerala. Our community of educators, students and parents were very keen and generous in contributing towards relief operations and I hope our small contribution helps all those in need. "

Goenka also thanked the Goonj Foundation who partnered with the school to organise the programme. "We are also grateful towards Goonj Foundation who is helping us with transporting the relief material. We pray for the people of Kerala and hope things will get back to normal at the earliest."
