MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings finally showed some intent in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2020 clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Sam Curran’s surprise move at the opening position, combined with aggressive knocks from Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja helped Chennai Super Kings post a good total. On the field, Jadeja was the star with the wicket of Bairstow and a superb fielding effort which resulted in a run-out. Dwayne Bravo and Shardul Thakur bowled well in the death overs as Chennai Super Kings won by 20 runs.

However, speaking after the end of the match, MS Dhoni remarked that Chennai Super Kings needed to focus on the process of winning rather than worry about other factors.

“Ultimately what really matters is you getting two points. What T20s have shown is that there are a few games that don't go your way and then there are some that go your way even when you haven't earned it. Today I felt we did a very good job. It was a par score and I usually assess scores after the first six overs. If there are misfields in the first six overs then a par score becomes an under par score. A lot depended on the fast bowlers. I just told them to be expressive on the field and hit their areas,” Dhoni said.

Great pleasure

However, the star of the show was Ravindra Jadeja and he won the Man of the Match for his fantastic exploits. His 25 off 10 balls helped Chennai Super Kings reach a competitive score while with the ball, he got the wicket of Jonny Bairstow. On the field, he took two good catches of Priyam Garg and Vijay Shankar as Sunrisers Hyderabad lost momentum on the field.

Speaking after getting the Man of the Match award, Jadeja said he took great pleasure in what he was doing in the team’s contribution. “I was backing myself and I was only looking to see the ball and hit the ball without pre-planning. The wicket looks on the slower side so I was just looking to bowl into the stumps rather than give them room. It is a difficult wicket for batsmen. I take great pleasure in my fielding, and whenever I field, I always look for a good run-out or a catch for the team,” Jadeja said.
