The landing of the Vikram lander on the lunar surface as part of the Chandrayaan-3 mission is currently the most historic feat being celebrated by the entire country, but the landing point of the moon mission by ISRO has now sparked a political war between BJP and Congress.

The political war was sparked soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced to the country that the landing point of the Chandrayaan-3 mission would be known as ‘Shiv Shakti Point.’ However, Congress had a different name in mind for the Vikram landing point.

Further, the crash site of the Chandrayaan-2 lander will henceforth be known as the ‘Tiranga Point’, as announced by PM Modi. Years ago, the Congress government has announced that the impact point of the Chandrayaan-1 mission will be known as ‘Jawahar Point’.

When senior Congress leader Rashid Alvi was questioned about the naming of the Jawahar Point, he told India Today, “The entire world will laugh...We have landed, it is very good. We are proud of it, no doubt about it. But we are not the owner of the moon or the point.”

The statements issued by Alvi led to a prompt response from BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla, saying that the Congress is finally revealing its ‘anti-Hindu’ agenda in the form of the Chandrayaan-3 landing debate.

The senior BJP leader said, “Both the names -- Shiv Shakti Point and Tiranga Point -- are attached to the country. Why does Rashid Alvi find this ridiculous? The Congress has a family-first principle... Vikram lander is named after Vikram Sarabhai.”

Poonawalla further attached Congress over the development of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under their tenure, saying that they never would have sent the Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3 missions, and would have named the landing points as Indira and Rajiv.

The Vikram lander of the Chandrayaan-3 mission landed successfully on the moon on August 23, with the Pragyan rover rolling out of the lander in a now-viral video. India has become the first country to land on the south pole of the Moon.
