With widespread COVID-19 vaccinations, there have been several side-effects, common and rare, observed with the different vaccines. New side-effects of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine have been surfacing, increasing concerns among experts.

There have been reports of blood clot formation and rare neurological complications after the vaccine. There are several other more common side-effects of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. However, the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks.

A number of cases are being reported where some people get fever and flu-like symptoms. It has been seen with post-vaccination cases that individuals are affected differently.

As per a leading daily, four new side-effects of the Covishield vaccine have been observed recently which should not be ignored by people.

Here are the 4 emerging side-effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine, manufactured and administered in India as Covishield:

Pain in hands and feet

People have complained of pain in feet and hands after receiving a dose of the Covishield vaccine, also a common side-effect with some other vaccines. If the pain is not intense, this can be a minor side-effect. But if there is a lot of pain, one should consult a doctor at the earliest. Some people also feel pain in joints and fatigue. The pain can also be limited to one leg rather than both. One should consult a doctor in this case.

Viral flu-like symptoms

Next in line are symptoms like viral influenza. People may experience symptoms like fever, body ache etc. Not everyone experiences these symptoms. However, being a noted side-effect, one should not ignore if they feel such symptoms. Another rare side-effect is a runny nose. This is reportedly more likely in people who have been affected by COVID-19 before they took the vaccine.

Nausea and vomiting

This is another side-effect that people might have after a Covishield shot. This can be accompanied by stomach cramps. Such digestive side-effects have previously been seen in other vaccines too. But health experts have also witnessed feeling of vomiting as a side-effect. These are mostly found in people after the first dose of the vaccine.

Lack of appetite

Number of people have reported loss of appetite after receiving their Covishield jab. Some felt the lack of appetite for a couple or so days. Like COVID-19, such appetite issues are also noted in flu. Experts believe that eating nutritious food can help alleviate this symptom after the vaccine. However, this is not a common side-effect.
