The opening ceremony of the World Cup 2023, originally planned to be a dazzling and glamorous event featuring Bollywood stars and musicians, has allegedly been canceled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Reports suggest that the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 will not include an opening ceremony, although we have not been able to independently verify these claims. Nevertheless, fans can still hold onto hope as the BCCI has not made any official announcements regarding this matter.

Multiple reports have indicated that the highly anticipated opening ceremony for the mega event will not take place, despite the BCCI previously planning an extravagant and grand affair. Originally scheduled for October 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the ceremony was set to feature a star-studded lineup including Ranveer Singh, Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shreya Ghoshal, and Asha Bhosle, accompanied by a dazzling display of fireworks and a mesmerizing laser show.

However, according to the reports, the Captains' Day event, which was intended to follow the opening ceremony, will proceed as planned. All ten captains of the participating teams, including Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, will be in attendance for this event, which will be followed by an impressive laser display.

Furthermore, there are rumors suggesting that the BCCI is contemplating organizing a function prior to the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Additionally, the BCCI may also arrange a closing ceremony on the day of the final, which falls on Sunday, November 19, in Ahmedabad.

India will commence their World Cup campaign on Sunday, October 8, against Australia in Chennai. With a formidable squad and the advantage of playing on home soil, India is widely expected to make a strong push in this tournament and put an end to their drought of ICC titles since their victorious Champions Trophy campaign in 2013.
