OG Chandramukhi Jyotika feels 'extremely proud to see' Kangana Ranaut playing her role in Chandramukhi 2: 'Huge fan'

Jyotika, who played Chandramukhi in the 2005 iconic blockbuster has heaped praise on Kangana Ranaut for reprising her role in the sequel Chandramukhi 2.

Kangana Ranaut is currently busy promoting her upcoming pan-India film Chandramukhi 2, and she got validation and appreciation from the OG Chandramukhi aka Jyotika for reprising her role in the sequel. For the unversed, Chandramukhi 2 is the direct sequel to the 2005 iconic blockbuster Chandramukhi, and Jyotika played the titular role of enchanting performer Chandramukhi. 

In the sequel, Kangana replaced Jyotika as Chandramukhi, whereas Raghava Lawrence replaced Rajinikanth as Vettiyan Raja. Jyotika supported Kangana Ranaut for taking the franchise ahead and praised her beauty as well. The Tamil actress called herself a fan of Kangana, and wrote, "Feel extremely proud to see one of the most talented actresses of Indian cinema to play Chandramukhi role. U look ravishing as Chandramukhi. Huge fan of your work and waiting to see this one especially for you. All the best Lawrence master and P Vasu sir for yet another success." 

Kangana Ranaut shared Jyotika's story, on her Instagram and replied to her saying, "Mam (folded hands emoji) Huge fan."

On Sunday, September 3, the makers of Chandramukhi 2 released the theatrical trailer in Chennai. In the sequel, Rajinikanth has been replaced by Raghava Lawrence, and Kangana Ranaut has stepped into Jyotika's shoes, playing Chandramukhi. Chandramukhi 2 is the direct sequel to the 2005 film, and it takes back to the origin of evil, cunning Vettiyan Raja, and his enmity with Chandramukhi. 

Chandramukhi 2 is the direct sequel to the 2005 film, which was a remake of Mohanlal-starrer iconic Manichitrathazhu (1993).  The movie was also remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007). Chandramukhi 2 will be released in cinemas in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages on September 15.
