Chandramukhi 2 trailer: Kangana Ranaut, Raghava bring back memories of 2005 blockbuster prequel, leave netizens divided

Chandramukhi 2 is the direct sequel to the 2005 iconic Rajinikanth, Jyotika-starrer, and the loyal fans of the blockbuster horror-comedy missed them in the second instalment.

    Director P Vasu has extended his iconic horror-comedy Chandramukhi (2005) with a sequel, Chandramukhi 2. The official trailer of Chandramukhi 2 was released on September 3, Sunday, and it has left fans and netizens divided. For the unversed, the prequel was headlined by Rajinikanth, and Jyotika played the titular role of enchanting and dreadful dancer Chandramukhi. 

    In the sequel, Rajinikanth has been replaced by Raghava Lawrence, and Kangana Ranaut has stepped into Jyotika's shoes, playing Chandramukhi. Chandramukhi 2 is the direct sequel to the 2005 film, and it takes back to the origin of evil, cunning Vettiyan Raja, and his enmity with Chandramukhi.

    As soon as the trailer of Chandramukhi 2 was released online, it received mixed reactions from the netizens. A section of internet users missed Rajinikanth and Jyotika. A netizen wrote, "NO ONE CAN REPLACE RAJINI SIR." Another netizen wrote, "After watching Chandramukhi 2 trailer, my respect for Chandramukhi 1 increased by 1000% Nothing can replace Rajinikanth's Chandramukhi." One of the netizens wrote, "No one can replace Rajni sir in Chandramukhi he is a legend." 

    Another section of internet users supported the film and requested not to compare the film with the prequel. An internet user wrote, "Let's not compare Chandramukhi 2 with Chandramukhi...I feel like this is going to be a blockbuster... let's wish the best for this film...this is pure goosebumps. Kangana & Lawrence's performances are going to be extremely Goosebumps pure horror so sure. P.Vasu sir and Keeravaani sir both gave us pure horror." Another internet user wrote, "This trailer gives pure Chandramukhi vibes and brings us back to 2005 where it starts." One of the internet users wrote, "Hope this movie will become hit like Chandramukhi." 

    Chandramukhi 2 is the direct sequel to the 2005 film, which was a remake of Mohanlal-starrer iconic Manichitrathazhu (1993).  The movie was also remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007).  Chandramukhi 2 will be released in cinemas in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages on September 15.
