Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam-starrer OMG 2 has been released after sailing through multiple difficulties. Despite clashing with mega-blockbuster Gadar 2, the second instalment of social drama has emerged successful at the box office. Amit Rai, the director of the film opened up about the trouble they faced after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the film Adults Only certificate with cuts suggestion.

In a conversation with ETimes, Amit Rai revealed what cuts CBFC suggested and they acknowledged. Amit said that he took steps intelligently, and revealed, "They said that I can’t quote Upanishads, but I can quote what is written so they were trapped. Words like Geeta and Yajurved got cut but the content did not." Amit further added that they had to redub a lot of things, and they even removed references to Ujjain and Madhya Pradesh. Rai summarised the experience with the Censor as a 'nightmare' for the VFX team, but the team managed to make all the changes in 70-odd hours.

In the conversation, Amit revealed that after his last Hindi film Road To Sangam (2009), he sat at home for 10 years without work. He also added that the script of OMG 2 was ready from the past many years, but no one believed in it, and big producers such as Karan Johar and Ashutosh Govariker rejected backing it. "Do they (Censor Board) know what we go through after the script is rejected? Sony, Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker and others had all rejected it. Finally, Akshay Kumar showed the courage to back it. He was very open to the script and said that the film needs to be."

As far as the collections are concerned, OMG 2 has collected more than Rs 100 crore worldwide. Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi-starrer made headlines even before its release. Despite getting an ‘A’ certificate and clashing with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, the film is having a successful box office run.
