India's fastest female athlete, Dutee Chand, has been handed a four-year ban after failing two out-of-competition drug tests for selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs).

This means that Dutee will be unable to participate in any national or international competitions for the next four years, with the ban coming into effect on January 3, 2023, and lasting until January 2027.

Furthermore, all of Dutee's competitive results obtained from the date of her sample collection, which was December 5, 2022, will be disqualified, resulting in the forfeiture of any medals, points, and prizes she may have earned.

Dutee's ban comes as a result of her violation of articles 2.1 and 2.2 of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). However, she does have the opportunity to file an appeal with the Anti-Doping Appeal Panel (ADAP) within 21 days of receiving the decision.

Dutee, who won silver medals in both the 100m and 200m races at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, was tested twice on December 5 and 26, 2022, by NADA's dope control officers in Bhubaneswar. The first sample revealed the presence of anabolic agents andarine, ostarine, and ligandrol, while the second sample contained traces of andarine and ostarine.

Following the initial positive test, Dutee had the option to request testing of her 'B' sample within seven days. However, she chose not to exercise this option, resulting in the imposition of a provisional suspension by NADA.
