Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw's stint with Northamptonshire got off to a sensational start, as the talented opener smashed two magnificent centuries in the ongoing One-Day Cup in England.

Unfortunately, Shaw suffered a knee injury while fielding during the team's match against Durham on August 13. Following scans, it has been confirmed that the young prodigy will be unable to participate in the remainder of the tournament.

Remarkably, despite the injury, Shaw displayed immense determination by walking out to bat and delivering an unbeaten knock of 125 runs, leading his team to a remarkable six-wicket victory. In response to his unfortunate setback, Shaw's close friend Arjun Tendulkar expressed his heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery.

"Stay strong buddy wish you a speedy recovery," Arjun wrote on his Instagram story.

Prithvi Shaw has captured the attention of cricket fans worldwide with his remarkable 244-run performance against Somerset in the One-Day Cup 2023. Not only has he emerged as the leading run-scorer of the season, accumulating an impressive 429 runs from just four innings.

However, recent reports have brought unfortunate news as it has been revealed that Shaw has suffered an ACL injury. This setback will force him to remain on the sidelines for approximately two months, ultimately leading to his return to India in a few weeks.

John Sadler, the head coach of Northamptonshire, has praised Shaw for his invaluable contributions to the team. Nevertheless, he expressed his disappointment regarding the untimely injury that has befallen the talented cricketer.

"In his short stint Prithvi has made a huge impact on us as a club. It’s a huge shame he won’t be with us for the remainder of this comp. He’s an extremely humble young man, he’s very respectful and had been so grateful for the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire," he said.

The official statement released by Northamptonshire indicates that Shaw will be meeting with a specialist in London on Friday. It is noteworthy that he will be under the guidance of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
