Man arrested for parking car on road in Cuffe Parade

A driver was arrested and later released on bail for having parked his car on road in Cuffe Parade. The arrest was made as he had left his car parked for a long time and had not removed it from. The arrest was made during a drive conducted by traffic police to resolve congestion, after residents sought traffic police's help.

"The arrest was made on June 11 and the person is now out on bail. He was arrested for leaving his car parked on road. He was arrested under section 283 of the IPC," said Rashmi Jadhav, senior police inspector of Cuffe Parade police station.

DNA had earlier written about the Cuffe Parade Residents Association (CPRA) along with elected representatives meet traffic authorities to resolve traffic woes of the area. The residents wanted smoother flow of traffic with monsoons and metro work going on, senior traffic officers, traffic wardens among others said.

"They put some additional traffic people at additional spots, fined offenders and also seized licenses. They have also removed some cars that were parked for months together," said Padmakar Nandekar, secretary general of CPRA.

"We have devised a smooth traffic plan. From two to three officers, there are now 9 to 10 men. There were FIRs against people for parking their cars on road. Residents say traffic is smooth now," said Amitesh Kumar, joint commissioner of police (traffic).
