Students in IIM, Ahmedabad Armed Forces Programme in Business Management will be sitting for placements in February 2011.
Armed forces personnel whose battlefield journey comprises risk-taking decisions have metamorphosed themselves into their new management roles as corporate warriors.
Students in Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) Armed Forces Programme in Business Management will be sitting for placements in February 2011.
"We are 50 in number, but only 47 of us are sitting for placements. Three have opted for entrepreneurship opportunities, thanks to ample land availability in Gujarat providing them the ideal opportunity to set up their own enterprises," said placement committee head Jaidev Joshi.
Of the 47 students, there are six females who are battling it out for top posts in corporates. The placement committee has already started inviting companies and is hopeful that each of them would at least get two job offers based on their dual skills.
"Two years back, when the market situation was volatile and the course was not so well-designed, students were skeptical about landing the right job in the corporate world.
"However, this year, things are different as the course is widely spread out; hence we are hopeful that each one of us will bag at least two job offers per company. We are mentally prepared with the offers," Joshi added.
According to students who are under this programme, the idea behind this course is to tell people how smoothly armed personnel can take the transition from battlefield to corporate field.
In fact, they are at an advantage when it comes to tackling or handling issues.
The placement committee has contacted 700 companies which have generated much interest and brochures have been sent to them.
The pre-placement talks will begin by January end and will go on till mid-February. After this, company will visit the campus and actual placements will take place. This six-month course culminates on January 23.
