Bollywood keeps fingers crossed

While actors sport lucky charms and stones for their films to do well, there are a select few who extend that to cricket matches as well. And now with the much-awaited Indo-Pak match, their getting superstitious seems but natural.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan is a huge fan of cricket, and father, superstar Amitabh Bachchan is extremely superstitious when India has a field day. Apparently, the superstar never watches any of the India matches live. He feels doing so proves to be dangerous and therefore only turns the TV on for the repeat telecast or the highlights.

Says actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, a die-hard Sachin Tendulkar fan, “I’m very good with my match predictions. It’s scary how I can predict a wicket as well. My father is superstitious and mostly tells me to keep quiet. If the match progresses smoothly, we stick to our seats until it’s over.”

Actor Dino Morea says, “I always have these issues... if someone moves etc, that might jinx the game. So I and my friends have fun doing crazy things, making people stand throughout the game, or not shout, drink and so on.”

TV actor Rohit Roy also admits to being superstitious. “I don’t let anybody even go to the loo if things are going well for India! Once I made my poor wife, who has no interest in cricket, sit in the same place till Sachin got his double hundred in an ODI! Since then she doesn’t come into the den when we’re watching an India game,” he laughs.

Choreographer Remo watches only the second half of the match “because whenever I watch the whole game, India loses. It is quite stupid but it works for me.”

Actor Tusshar Kapoor, though not so superstitious, likes to be in a positive frame of mind. Actor Jackky Bhagnani admits that he continues to do just one thing, until the match ends. However hottie Malaika Arora Khan doesn’t believe in these quirks.

“I have absolutely no superstition about anything. I just enjoy the game with everyone.”
