Mohammed Siraj's extraordinary performance in the Asia Cup, where he secured a remarkable six-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, has earned him accolades from former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch. Siraj's stellar showing not only earned him the Player of the Match award but also propelled him to the summit of the ICC bowler's rankings in ODIs.

Finch, while acknowledging Siraj's exceptional rise, also highlighted the threat posed by new-ball bowlers who can skillfully swing the ball. He named Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, and Mitchell Starc as formidable contenders who could exhibit their prowess in the upcoming World Cup, scheduled to be held on Indian soil from October 5. Finch humorously mentioned his retirement and how he used to try and avoid facing Bhuvneshwar Kumar, another lethal swing bowler.

Former South African skipper Faf du Plessis echoed Finch's sentiments, emphasizing that Siraj's performance would be contingent on the pitch conditions. He noted that on tracks with some assistance from bowlers, Siraj's ability to subtly move the ball both ways, consistently targeting the off stump, would make him a formidable force. Additionally, du Plessis highlighted the effectiveness of bowlers like Trent Boult in such conditions.

With 53 wickets in 29 ODIs at an economy rate of 4.76, featuring four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul, Mohammed Siraj has undoubtedly transformed into a prominent and reliable asset for the Indian cricket team
