The stage is set for the ICC World Cup 2023, and anticipation is building for the opening match between England and New Zealand, a repeat of the thrilling final from the previous edition. To kick off this momentous event, a grand opening ceremony will take place on October 4th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This day will be known as Captains' Day, and the ceremony will commence at 7 PM IST. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has pulled out all the stops, enlisting the talents of several Bollywood stars, including the charismatic Ranveer Singh, renowned singers Shreya Ghoshal, Arijit Singh, and the legendary Asha Bhosle.

The opening ceremony promises to be a spectacle, featuring a mesmerizing laser show, breathtaking fireworks, and a celebration of Indian heritage. The captains of all ten participating teams will grace the occasion with their presence. Excitingly, fans who have purchased tickets for the England vs New Zealand opening match will have the opportunity to attend this extraordinary ceremony.

Additionally, Ranveer Singh, who has been the face of ICC's World Cup anthem, will deliver a captivating performance alongside some of Bollywood and Tollywood's most glamorous divas.

Preparations for the highly anticipated event are currently in full swing, as the big day approaches. The stage has been meticulously set up for the performance, with rehearsals already underway.

Prior to the grand opening, all ten captains are scheduled to arrive in Ahmedabad on October 3rd. However, due to India's warm-up match against the Netherlands on the same day, along with other teams, most of them, including Rohit Sharma, will be arriving on the morning of October 4th.

In a slight deviation from tradition, the World Cup opening ceremony will be held a day before the actual opening match. This alteration is necessary due to the matches commencing at 2 PM IST, leaving insufficient time for such an elaborate event. Additionally, the spectacle of fireworks and laser shows cannot be fully appreciated in broad daylight.

In addition to the enthusiastic fans, officials from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will grace the occasion with their presence. Both the BCCI and the ICC will extend invitations to the top administrators of all cricket boards, ensuring a gathering of influential figures at the event.
