'Veere Di Wedding' enters 100 crore club with global box office collection

Sonam K Ahuja, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker, and Shikha Talsania's Veere Di Wedding has collected Rs 100 crore worldwide to enter the coveted club of Bollywood movies.

Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, this women-centric story is continuing the successful run at the box office on Day 13. The days leading up to Eid weekend have given a lot of space for Veere Di Wedding to collect as much as they can until Salman Khan's action blockbuster Race 3 lands in theatres on June 15.

A story of female friendship, VDW raked in Rs 54.46 crore in the first week of release. They added Rs 1.60 crore on Day 12 to take the global total above Rs 100 crore.

On the domestic front, the movie has collected a little over Rs 75 crore until Day 13 in theatres.

While enjoying their summers in London, producer Rhea Kapoor and actor Sonam K Ahuja celebrated the success by posting the GIFs on social media. Co-producer Ekta Kapoor was just as delighted.

The success of  VDW has fanned the rumours about a sequel for the movie.

"Ekta and Rhea were spotted at a hush dinner last night and were seen having a great time. They were also in an intense discussion which has led to speculation on whether a sequel of VDW is on the cards. The two producers may come from different schools of cinema but have always aimed to make films that are distinctive and have been path breakers. With the success of Veere Di Wedding, several from the industry have been encouraging the two women producers to work on a sequel since the concept and the characters of the film were so loved," a source close to the production has said.
