In a series of tweets, Anurag Kashyap and Ranvir Shorey got into a discussion about the film industry post-Kangana Ranaut's recent interview. Amid that, one of the Twitterati accused Anurag of being a part of a Bollywood mafia gang. It came after Ranvir's tweet, "So many independent-film-crusaders have turned mainstream-Bollywood-flunkies now. These are the same people who used to rant 24/7 about the “system” for attention before they were given entry into the pearly gates of mainstream Bollywood. #Hypocrisy much?"

To which the netizen replied tagging Anurag, "@anuragkashyap72 is the best example and puppet of Bollywood Gang Mafia. Bhai roti chalani hai to chatna jaruri hai." To which Kashyap replied in Hindi stating, "मेरी रोटी Bollywood से नहीं चलती ।

Which roughly translates as "My 'roti' does not work with Bollywood. There is no Dharma, Excel or YRF or any studio to produce my film. Have to build a new company myself and make me. Queen was created when Kangana had no work. I had helped Anand Rai to finish Tanu weds Manu when it was stuck and introduced him to financiers. If you want, you can ask. I'm speaking by name and I'll say what's true."
