Aamir Khan's last movie Laal Singh Chaddha failed to work at the box office, and the failure of the film create a major debate among trade pundits and moviegoers. While a few people consider the boycott calls that affected the film, others found Laal Singh Chaddha, inferior to his other projects. Now, Aamir Khan's cousin, director Mansoor Khan revealed that Aamir 'overacted' in the film.

Mansoor, who directed the actor in his 1988 superhit debut Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (QSQT), has now released a new book, One: The Story of the Ultimate Myth, told PTI that he was "frank enough" to give Aamir his feedback well before others.

Mansoor had earlier told Aamir Khan his acting in the Bollywood adaptation of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump was 'over the top'. But it's when, Baahubali, RRR director SS Rajamouli called him out that it really hit home. "Aamir has a great sense of humour. So one day he laughingly tells me, 'When you told me it was over the top, I said, ok, you are a subtle guy which is why you might have felt that way. But when someone like Rajamouli tells me overacting lag raha hai, I said to myself, Isko bhi lag raha hai toh kiya hi hoga (If he also feels so then it must be)'."

Mansoor further said that he liked the script, and he felt that even writer Atul Kulkarni did a fine job of it. But for him, Aamir went over the top with his expressions. "The character is not a jerk, not someone suffering from dyslexia or anything else. He is a bit odd... But that's about it." After the debacle of Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan took a break from acting, and he's currently enjoying his sabbatical from films.
