Sushmita Sen stunned everyone when she appeared in a red saree in Main Hoon Na which also starred Shah Rukh Khan, Sunil Shetty, Amrita Rao, and Zayed Khan in the lead roles. The actress played Chandni Chopra in the film.

In a recent interview, Sushmita revealed that Farah Khan, who directed the film, apologised to her after watching film’s final edit. While speaking to the Humans of Bombay, “It was actually quite funny when Farah called me and said, 'Sush, I have seen the final edit and I have to apologise to you. Shah Rukh, of course, has the role; Zayed, Amrita, everybody has a role; you are barely there.' So, I'm just like, 'Well, that's okay, Farah; we had a deal; you kept through the promise; I kept through it; it's done; don't worry about it.' But inside I was thinking, 'Oh, I'm barely there in the film—not that I had shot a lot, but still barely there in the film.”

Last year July 2022, Lalit shared his mushy photos with Sushmita on his Instagram, and it sparked dating rumours about the two. When Lalit shared his feelings on the internet, Sushmita was brutally trolled for allegedly dating him, soon after her breakup with boyfriend Rohman Shawl. Later in September, Lalit removed Sushmita's name from his Instagram bio. This sparked the rumours of their split. During this phase, Sushmita was tagged as a 'gold digger', and the actress slammed the trolls on her Instagram with a long note.

While speaking to Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Sushmita revealed why she decided to shut trolls down. Sushmita shared her views about people's mentality, where they easily target a woman and call her a gold digger. Sushmita said that she was amused with trolls, and said, "The only reason that I put out that post was to laugh at it. I wasn’t that pained. It was just amusing because you call a woman a gold digger, and you are monetising that gold digger by writing stories on her."

Sushmita further added that what bothered her more was the silence of good people about the fiasco. The actress said, "What bothers me is that when good people keep quiet, the bad just thrives. I have seen that happen too many times. We think it’s not elegant to respond. Let elegance be damned." Sushmita clarified that she laughed when trolls attacked her. "I just need people to know I am laughing my lungs out, and it just shows me that generations have changed, but people haven’t changed morally and ethically much." Sushmita's latest series Taali is currently streaming on Jio Cinema.
